When you request support, we may send a collaborator access request to your Shopify store. This page explains what it is, why we need it, and how to approve or remove it. ## What is collaborator access? Collaborator access is Shopify's official system for allowing app developers and partners to access your store's admin. It lets us help you with: - **Widget setup** - Installing and configuring impact widgets on your storefront - **Troubleshooting** - Diagnosing issues with triggers, billing, or display - **Custom emails** - Helping set up branded impact notification emails - **Theme adjustments** - Making sure widgets render correctly in your theme ## How to approve the request When we send a collaborator request, you'll receive an email from Shopify. Follow these steps to approve it: 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Users** in the left sidebar 3. Under **Pending**, find the request from **1ClickImpact Collaborator** 4. Click on it to review the permissions being requested 5. Click **Accept** Once accepted, we'll have the access needed to help you. You'll receive the collaborator request via email from Shopify. If you don't see it, check your spam folder or ask us to resend it. ## Security and privacy Collaborator access is designed with security in mind: - **Shopify's official system** - This is built into Shopify, not a third-party workaround - **No password sharing** - We never ask for your password or login credentials - **You control access** - You can revoke access at any time with one click - **All actions are logged** - Shopify records everything done under collaborator access in your store's activity log - **Limited permissions** - We only request the permissions needed to help you ## How to remove access If you no longer need our help, you can revoke collaborator access at any time: 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Users** 3. Find the 1ClickImpact collaborator account 4. Click on it and select **Remove collaborator** Access is revoked immediately. You can always approve a new request later if you need help again. --- ## Setup Guide URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/setup-guide Description: Complete setup walkthrough for the 1ClickImpact Shopify app - budget, categories, trigger mode, customer add-ons, and going live. The 1ClickImpact setup wizard walks you through four simple steps to start making environmental impact with your store. The whole process takes about 2 minutes. Every new store gets **100 free trees** and **230 plastic bottles removed** (10 lbs of ocean waste) at no cost. You won't be billed until your free tier is used up. ## Step 1: Budget and Categories ### Set your monthly budget Your budget is the maximum you'll spend on impact each month, billed through Shopify. The minimum budget is **$5/month**. You can change this at any time. ### Choose your impact categories Pick one or more categories you want to support: - **Plant Trees** - $0.40 per tree - **Plant Food Trees** - $0.60 per tree - **Clean Ocean Waste** - $0.60 per lb (~23 bottles) - **Capture Carbon** - $0.40 per lb of CO2 - **Donate to Causes** - donated to a vetted cause of your choice (Veterans, Animal Welfare, Hunger Relief, Education, Climate Action, Clean Water, Healthcare, and more) You can enable or disable categories at any time after setup. ## Step 2: Trigger Mode Choose when impact should be triggered: - **Per Order** - Trigger impact on every order (optionally set a minimum order value) - **Per Product** - Trigger impact for each product sold, multiplied by quantity - **Customer Choice** - Let customers opt in to impact at checkout - **Fixed Monthly** - Run a single batch of impact once per month - **Pause** - No impact triggered (useful if you need a break) Pick the mode that best fits your business. You can switch modes later without losing any existing impact. ## Step 3: Customer Add-ons Customer add-on products let your customers contribute extra environmental impact at checkout. **The customer pays for these impacts - not you.** During this step, the wizard creates Shopify products that customers can add to their cart. This step is optional. If you don't want to offer customer add-ons, you can skip it and come back later. ## Step 4: Review and Go Live Review your settings - budget, categories, trigger mode, and add-ons. When everything looks right, click **Go Live**. You'll be redirected to Shopify's billing approval page. Approve the subscription to activate 1ClickImpact on your store. The Shopify billing approval is required even during the free tier. Shopify needs an active subscription to track usage-based charges. You won't be charged until your free impact is used up. ## After setup Once you've completed the wizard: - Impact will start triggering based on your chosen mode - Visit the **Home** page to see your impact stats and free tier progress - Add [widgets to your storefront](/cart-widget) so customers can see the difference their purchases make - Adjust your settings anytime by going back to the **Setup** page --- # Impact Settings ## Monthly Budget URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/budget Description: How the monthly budget works in 1ClickImpact - setting, changing, and managing your Shopify billing cap. Your monthly budget is the maximum amount 1ClickImpact can charge you for environmental impact in a billing cycle. It acts as a spending cap managed through Shopify's billing system. ## How it works When you set a budget, Shopify creates a usage-based subscription with that amount as the cap. Each time impact is triggered (by an order, product sale, or monthly schedule), the cost is recorded against your budget. Once your budget is reached, no new impact is triggered until the next billing cycle. ## Setting your budget You set your budget during the [setup wizard](/setup-guide). The minimum budget is **$5/month**. Choose a budget that matches your expected order volume. For example: - A store with ~50 orders/month using "Plant Trees" ($0.40/tree) would need about $20/month - A store with ~200 orders/month would need about $80/month ## How the budget resets Your budget resets automatically at the start of each Shopify billing cycle (typically every 30 days from when you first approved the subscription). All usage counters go back to zero, and impact starts triggering again. ## Changing your budget To change your budget: 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Update your budget amount 3. Click **Save** to confirm 4. Approve the updated billing subscription in Shopify Changing your budget requires re-approving the Shopify billing subscription. This is because Shopify treats each billing cap change as a new subscription approval for your protection. ## What happens when the budget is exceeded When your budget is fully used: - **New orders will not trigger impact** - orders are still processed normally in your store, but no trees are planted, ocean waste removed, etc. - **You'll receive an email notification** letting you know your budget has been reached - **Existing impact is not affected** - everything already triggered will still be fulfilled - **Customer add-on purchases are also paused** - all impact processing (including add-ons) stops when the budget is exceeded To resume impact immediately, [increase your budget](#changing-your-budget). Otherwise, impact will resume automatically when your billing cycle resets. --- ## Impact Categories URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/impact-categories Description: Learn about the five impact categories available in 1ClickImpact - trees, food trees, ocean cleanup, carbon capture, and donations. 1ClickImpact offers five categories of environmental and social impact. You can enable any combination of categories, and each order or trigger will create impact across all your active categories. ## Available categories Plant Trees - $0.40/tree Real trees planted in deforested areas through verified reforestation partners. Each tree is tracked and verified. This is the most popular category among 1ClickImpact merchants. Plant Food Trees - $0.60/tree Fruit-bearing trees planted in communities that need them most. These trees provide long-term nutrition and income for local families. Planting sessions are conducted live and can be shared with your customers. Clean Ocean Waste - $0.60/lb (~$0.026/bottle) Plastic and waste removed from oceans, rivers, and waterways. Each pound equals approximately 23 plastic bottles removed. Cleanup is carried out by verified ocean conservation partners. Capture Carbon - $0.40/lb CO2 captured and permanently stored through verified carbon removal projects. This helps offset your store's carbon footprint from shipping and operations. Donate to Causes - $0.10 fee per $1 donated 100% of the amount is donated to a vetted charitable cause of your choice through trusted giving partners. View available causes Veterans Support - supporting veterans' health, housing, and employment Animal Welfare - protecting animals and their habitats Hunger Relief - providing meals and food security Education - funding schools, supplies, and scholarships Climate Action - supporting climate research and policy Clean Water - providing access to safe drinking water Healthcare - funding medical care and research Housing & Shelter - supporting housing initiatives Youth Development - empowering young people with skills and mentorship Disaster Relief - emergency response and recovery When you enable the **Donate to Causes** category, you'll be prompted to select a specific cause. You can change your selected cause at any time from the Setup page. ## Enabling and disabling categories You can toggle categories on or off at any time: 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. In the **Impact Categories** section, enable or disable the categories you want 3. Save your changes When a category is disabled, it will no longer be triggered for new orders. Any impact already created in that category is not affected. ## How categories work together When you have multiple categories enabled, each trigger creates impact in **all** active categories. For example, if you have Plant Trees and Clean Ocean Waste both enabled, every qualifying order will plant a tree and remove ocean waste. The total cost per trigger is the sum of all your active categories. --- ## Trigger Modes URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/trigger-modes Description: Understand the five trigger modes in 1ClickImpact - per order, per product, customer choice, fixed monthly, and pause. Trigger modes control when 1ClickImpact creates environmental impact. Choose the mode that best fits your business model and budget. You can switch between modes at any time. ## Per Order Impact is triggered once for every order placed in your store. - Each order creates your desired units of impact in your selected categories - Optionally set a [minimum order value](/min-order-value) - orders below the threshold won't trigger impact - This is the most common mode and works well for most stores **Best for:** Stores that want consistent impact with every sale. ## Per Product Impact is triggered for each product sold, multiplied by the quantity purchased. - If a customer buys 3 units of a product, impact is multiplied by 3 - This scales impact proportionally with order size - Higher-volume orders create more impact (and more cost) **Best for:** Stores where order size varies significantly, or where you want impact to scale with what customers buy. Per Product mode can use your budget faster than Per Order mode since a single order with multiple items triggers multiple impacts. Make sure your [budget](/budget) accounts for your average items-per-order. ## Customer Choice Customers choose whether to add impact at checkout. A widget appears in the checkout flow letting them opt in. - Impact is only triggered when a customer actively chooses it - The cost comes from your budget, not the customer (unless combined with [Customer Add-on Products](/addon-products) that the customer pays for) - Great for stores that want to involve customers in the decision **Best for:** Stores that want customers to feel directly involved in making a positive impact. ## Fixed Monthly Impact is triggered once per month as a single batch, regardless of how many orders you receive. - Runs automatically on a monthly schedule - Creates your configured units of impact in your selected categories - Predictable, fixed cost each month - Not tied to individual orders **Best for:** Stores with low or variable order volume, or those that want a simple, predictable monthly contribution. ## Pause All impact triggering is stopped. - No new impact is created for any orders - Customer add-on products are also paused - Impact widgets are hidden from your storefront - Existing impact is not affected To resume, simply select any other trigger mode from the Setup page. **Best for:** When you need a temporary break - seasonal closures, store maintenance, or budget planning. ## Switching modes You can change your trigger mode at any time: 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Select a new trigger mode 3. Save your changes The new mode takes effect immediately. Any impact already created under the previous mode is preserved. --- ## Minimum Order Value URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/min-order-value Description: How the minimum order value setting works in 1ClickImpact - skip impact on small orders while keeping add-ons active. The minimum order value lets you set a threshold so that only orders above a certain amount trigger environmental impact. This helps you manage costs by skipping impact on smaller orders. ## How it works When you set a minimum order value, 1ClickImpact checks the cart subtotal of each order before triggering impact: - **Orders at or above the threshold** trigger impact as normal - **Orders below the threshold** are skipped - no impact is created and nothing is charged The minimum order value is checked against the **cart subtotal**, which is the total before shipping and taxes are applied. ## When is it available? The minimum order value setting is only available when your trigger mode is set to [Per Order](/trigger-modes#per-order). It does not apply to other trigger modes like [Per Product](/trigger-modes#per-product), [Customer Choice](/trigger-modes#customer-choice), [Fixed Monthly](/trigger-modes#fixed-monthly), or [Pause](/trigger-modes#pause). ## Setting the minimum order value 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Select **Per Order** as your trigger mode 3. Enter your minimum order value 4. Save your changes Customer add-on purchases still work on orders below the minimum value. Since the customer pays for add-ons, they are processed regardless of the order subtotal. ## Choosing the right threshold Consider your average order value and margins when setting this threshold. For example: - If your average order is $50, setting a minimum of $25 would cover most orders while skipping very small ones - If you sell low-priced items, you might skip the minimum entirely to ensure every order creates impact Setting this to $0 (or leaving it empty) means every order triggers impact, which is the same as not having a minimum. --- ## Customer Add-on Products URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/addon-products Description: How customer add-on products work in 1ClickImpact - let customers buy extra environmental impact alongside their order. Customer add-on products are Shopify products that let your customers purchase extra environmental impact alongside their regular order. The customer pays for the impact, not you. ## What are customer add-on products? Customer add-on products are regular Shopify products that are linked to 1ClickImpact impact categories. When a customer adds one to their cart and completes checkout, the corresponding impact is automatically triggered - a tree is planted, ocean waste is removed, or carbon is captured. Because these are standard Shopify products, the customer pays for them at checkout. However, the impact processing still counts against your monthly budget. ## How they're created Customer add-on products are created automatically during the [setup wizard](/setup-guide) in Step 3 (Customer Add-ons). The wizard creates one product for each impact category you've enabled, with: - A product title and description explaining the impact - A price corresponding to the impact cost - Product images These products appear in your Shopify product catalog like any other product. You can customize the title, description, and images after creation. ## How pricing works Each customer add-on product is priced to cover the cost of the impact it creates: - **Plant a Tree** - $0.40 - **Plant a Food Tree** - $0.60 - **Clean Ocean Waste (1 lb)** - $0.60 - **Capture Carbon (1 lb)** - $0.40 - **Donate to a Cause** - variable You can adjust the price of customer add-on products in your Shopify admin. If you set the price higher than the impact cost, the difference is revenue for your store. Since the customer pays for customer add-on products, these purchases do **not** count against your monthly budget. They work independently of your budget and billing. ## Auto-fulfillment Customer add-on products are digital - there's nothing to ship. 1ClickImpact can automatically fulfill these line items after the order is placed, so they don't clutter your fulfillment workflow. When auto-fulfillment is enabled, the customer add-on line item is marked as fulfilled immediately after the order is created. The rest of the order (physical products) remains unfulfilled and follows your normal shipping process. ## Managing customer add-on products Since customer add-on products are regular Shopify products, you can: - Edit their title, description, and images in the Shopify admin - Add them to collections or feature them on your homepage - Hide them from your catalog if you only want them shown via the checkout widget - Adjust pricing as you see fit If you delete a customer add-on product in Shopify, it will no longer be available for customers to purchase. --- ## Pausing and Resuming Impact URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/pause-impact Description: How to pause and resume environmental impact in 1ClickImpact - stop all triggers temporarily without losing your settings. You can pause all impact triggering at any time. This is useful for seasonal closures, budget planning, or any time you need a temporary break from creating impact. ## How to pause impact 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. In the **Trigger Mode** section, select **Pause** 3. Save your changes Impact stops immediately. No further configuration is needed. ## What happens when paused When impact is paused: - **No new impact is triggered** - orders are processed normally in your store, but no trees are planted, ocean waste removed, etc. - **Customer add-on products are also paused** - customers cannot purchase extra impact while the app is paused - **Widgets are hidden** - impact widgets on your storefront are automatically hidden so customers don't see outdated or inactive impact messaging - **Your settings are preserved** - your budget, categories, and other configuration remain unchanged - **Existing impact is not affected** - everything already triggered continues to be tracked and displayed Pausing does not cancel your Shopify subscription or affect your billing cycle. It simply stops new impact from being triggered. ## How to resume impact To start triggering impact again: 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Select any trigger mode other than Pause (Per Order, Per Product, Customer Choice, or Fixed Monthly) 3. Save your changes Impact resumes immediately with your existing settings. Widgets reappear on your storefront automatically. ## When to use pause Common reasons to pause impact: - **Seasonal closure** - your store is temporarily closed - **Budget review** - you want to evaluate costs before continuing - **Store maintenance** - you're making major changes to your store - **Testing** - you want to process test orders without triggering real impact --- # Theme Widgets ## Cart Impact Widget URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/cart-widget Description: How to set up and configure the Cart Impact Widget that shows environmental impact on your cart page. The Cart Impact Widget is an app embed that automatically appears on your cart page, showing customers the environmental impact their order will make. ## How it works The Cart Impact Widget displays impact information directly on your cart page. Depending on your trigger mode, it can show: - **Per-order impact** - The fixed impact that every order generates - **Per-product impact** - Impact calculated based on the specific products in the cart - **Customer choice tiles** - Interactive tiles that let customers choose which impact categories to support - **Add-on products** - Optional impact add-ons that customers can include with their order The widget updates automatically as customers add or remove items from their cart. ## Installation The Cart Impact Widget is installed as a Shopify app embed, which means it activates across your entire store without needing to edit individual templates. 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 3. Open the **App embeds** panel (toggle icon in the left sidebar) 4. Find **1ClickImpact Cart Widget** and toggle it on 5. Click **Save** The widget will automatically detect whether your store uses a cart page (`/cart`) or a cart drawer (AJAX slide-out panel) and render in the appropriate location. ## If the widget does not appear In most themes, the widget auto-detects your cart container and injects itself. If it does not show up on your cart page, you can manually place it by adding a placeholder element to your cart template: ```html ``` Add this snippet wherever you want the widget to appear inside your cart template file (typically `cart.liquid`, `cart-template.liquid`, or a cart section file). The widget will not render inside the Shopify theme editor preview. To verify it is working, visit your actual store URL with items in the cart. ## Mobile responsiveness The widget is fully responsive. On smaller screens, the impact tiles collapse into a compact accordion-style layout that customers can expand to view details. This keeps the cart page clean on mobile devices while still presenting impact information. ## Customization options You can configure the widget appearance in the theme editor under the app embed settings: - **Title** - Change the heading text displayed above the widget - **Subtitle** - Add a secondary line of text below the title - **Primary color** - Controls the accent color for tiles and interactive elements - **Background color** - Sets the widget container background - **Icon size** - Adjust the size of impact category icons - **Border color** - Change the border around the widget container - **Show branding** - Toggle the 1ClickImpact branding link on or off Color changes take effect immediately in the theme editor preview, but you must click Save for them to appear on your live store. ## Avatar tooltips Each impact category in the widget is represented by an avatar icon. When a customer hovers over an icon on desktop (or taps on mobile), a tooltip appears with details about the impact type - such as "Real trees planted - tracked with certificate" or "CO2 removed from air - verified by partners." This gives customers context without cluttering the widget layout. ## Customer choice mode When your store is configured for customer choice, the widget displays interactive toggle tiles for each impact category. Customers tap a tile to select or deselect it. The selected impacts are attached to the order at checkout. If no selection is made, the default impact configuration you set in the app is used. ## Add-on products If you have add-on impact products enabled, they appear as optional items within the cart widget. Customers can add extra trees, ocean cleanup, or carbon capture on top of the base order impact. These are added as line items in the cart. --- ## Product Badge URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/product-badge Description: How to add and customize the Product Badge widget that shows impact messaging on product pages. The Product Badge is a small widget that appears on your product pages, letting customers know that their purchase contributes to environmental impact. ## What it displays The Product Badge shows a concise message such as "We plant trees, clean the ocean & capture carbon for every order." This text is automatically generated based on the impact categories you have enabled in the app. When a customer clicks the info icon on the badge, a popup opens with: - **Impact details** - A breakdown of each impact category and quantities - **Carousel images** - Photos from reforestation sites, ocean cleanup operations, and carbon capture projects - **Certificate information** - An explanation of how impact is tracked and certified ## Badge styles The Product Badge comes in two visual styles: ### Pill A rounded, self-contained badge with a background color. Works well as a standalone element below the product title or above the Add to Cart button. ### Inline A flat text-based badge without a background container. Blends into the surrounding text and works well within product descriptions or alongside other product metadata. ## Installation 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 3. Open a **product page** template 4. Click **Add block** or **Add section** and search for **1ClickImpact Product Badge** 5. Position the block where you want it to appear 6. Click **Save** The Product Badge is a theme block, not an app embed. You place it manually on your product page template so you have full control over its position. ## Customization options The following settings are available in the theme editor when you select the Product Badge block: - **Style** - Choose between Pill and Inline - **Font size** - Adjust the text size to match your theme typography - **Accent color** - Controls the info icon and popup highlight color - **Text color** - Sets the badge text color - **Background color** - Sets the badge background (Pill style only) - **Popup background** - Changes the background color of the detail popup - **Popup text color** - Changes the text color inside the popup ## Popup details The popup that opens when a customer clicks the info icon is designed to build trust. It includes: - A summary of the impact this store makes - A scrollable carousel of real project photos - Information about tracking and certificates that verify each contribution - Links to learn more about the impact partners The popup is mobile-friendly and appears as a bottom sheet on smaller screens. The badge text updates automatically when you enable or disable impact categories in the app. You do not need to manually edit the message. --- ## Impact Details URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/impact-details Description: How to add the Impact Details block to product pages to show impact chips with quantities. The Impact Details block is a card-style widget for product pages that shows each impact category as individual chips with their quantities. ## What it displays The Impact Details block presents your impact configuration in a visual card format. Each enabled impact category appears as a chip showing: - The impact icon (tree, ocean, carbon, or donation) - The category name - The quantity per trigger (e.g., "2 trees", "1 lb plastic") Customers can click on the card to open a popup with full details, identical to the popup shown by the Product Badge widget. ## Layout behavior The Impact Details block adapts to the available width of its container. On wider layouts, chips are arranged in a horizontal row. On narrower containers or mobile screens, chips stack vertically or wrap to multiple rows. This makes it work well in both full-width and sidebar positions. ## Installation 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 3. Open a **product page** template 4. Click **Add block** or **Add section** and search for **1ClickImpact Impact Details** 5. Position the block where you want it on the page 6. Click **Save** You can use the Impact Details block alongside or instead of the Product Badge. They serve similar purposes but with different visual presentations. Choose the one that fits your product page layout best. ## Customization options The following settings are available in the theme editor: - **Primary color** - Controls the chip accent color and icon tints - **Background color** - Sets the card background - **Text color** - Sets the text color for category names and quantities - **Border radius** - Adjust the corner rounding of the card container - **Show branding** - Toggle the 1ClickImpact branding link on or off ## Popup details The popup triggered from the Impact Details block is the same full-detail popup used by the Product Badge. It includes project photos in a carousel, impact breakdowns, and certificate information. See the [Product Badge](/product-badge) article for more details on the popup content. Impact quantities shown in the chips reflect your current app configuration. If you change your impact settings in the app, the displayed quantities update automatically. --- ## Footer Banner URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/footer-banner Description: How to set up the Footer Banner (Impact Awareness Widget) that displays impact messaging with avatar icons. The Footer Banner, also called the Impact Awareness Widget, displays a visual strip with avatar icons and an auto-generated impact message. It is designed to sit in your store's footer or any other section to communicate your environmental commitment. ## What it displays The Footer Banner includes: - **Avatar icons** - Small circular icons representing each active impact category. Hovering over an icon shows a tooltip with the category name. - **Auto-generated text** - A message like "We plant trees, clean the ocean & capture carbon for every order" that updates based on your enabled impact categories. - **Link** - The banner can link to your projects page or your public impact profile so customers can learn more. Multiple impacts configured Single impact configured ## Installation 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 3. Navigate to the **Footer** section or any section where you want to place it 4. Click **Add block** or **Add section** and search for **1ClickImpact Footer Banner** 5. Position the block within the section 6. Click **Save** The Footer Banner works well in footers, announcement bars, and dedicated sections. Place it wherever you want to reinforce your store's impact commitment. ## Customization options The following settings are available in the theme editor: - **Text size** - Adjust the font size of the impact message - **Font weight** - Set the text to normal or bold - **Text color** - Change the message text color - **Background color** - Set the banner background - **Border** - Add or remove a border around the banner - **Border color** - Change the border color when enabled - **Link URL** - Set the destination when customers click the banner (e.g., your impact profile page or `/pages/our-impact`) - **Show branding** - Toggle the 1ClickImpact branding on or off The banner text automatically regenerates when you enable or disable impact categories in the app. No manual text editing is needed. --- ## Impact Counter URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/impact-counter Description: How to display your store total environmental impact with the Impact Counter stats widget. The Impact Counter displays your store's total environmental impact as a live stats widget. It pulls real data from your shop metafields and presents it with animated counters. ## What it displays The Impact Counter shows cumulative totals for each impact category your store has contributed to: - **Trees planted** - Total number of trees planted through your orders - **Ocean waste removed** - Total pounds of plastic removed from oceans - **Carbon captured** - Total pounds of CO2 captured - **Money donated** - Total amount donated to causes Each stat is shown with an icon and an animated tick-up counter that counts from zero to the current total when the widget scrolls into view. ## Layouts The Impact Counter offers three layout options: ### Hero Image Stats are overlaid on a full-width background image. You can choose from preset images (forest, ocean, carbon, donate themes) or provide your own custom image URL to match your brand. This layout creates a strong visual statement and works well as a homepage hero section. ### Card Grid Each impact stat is displayed in its own card, arranged in a responsive grid. This works well as a standalone section on your homepage, about page, or a dedicated impact page. ### Compact Line All stats are displayed in a single horizontal row. This is a space-efficient option that works well in footers, sidebars, or between other sections. ## Installation 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 3. Navigate to the page where you want the counter (e.g., homepage) 4. Click **Add section** and search for **1ClickImpact Impact Counter** 5. Choose your preferred layout 6. Click **Save** The Impact Counter reads data from your shop's metafields, which are updated automatically after each order is processed. New stores will see zeros until orders with impact start coming in. ## How the data works Impact totals are stored as Shopify shop metafields and are accessible via Shopify's public Storefront API. The widget reads these metafields on page load and animates the numbers. The data updates after each order is processed by 1ClickImpact. ## Customization options The following settings are available in the theme editor: - **Layout** - Select Card Grid, Hero Image, or Compact Line - **Heading** - Custom heading text (e.g., "Our Impact So Far") - **Subtitle** - Optional text below the heading - **Primary color** - Controls icon and counter number colors - **Background color** - Sets the section background - **Text color** - Sets the heading and label text color - **Hero image preset** - Choose from preset background images (Hero Image layout only) If your totals are not appearing, make sure the app has processed at least one order and that your shop metafields are accessible. You can verify metafields in your Shopify admin under Settings, then Custom data. --- ## Customizing Widget Appearance URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/widget-settings Description: General guide for customizing the appearance of all 1ClickImpact theme widgets. Most stores look best with a subtle background that contrasts slightly with the page. ## Product Badge settings In addition to the common settings, the Product Badge has: - **Style** - Choose between Pill (rounded badge with background) and Inline (flat text) - **Font size** - Adjust to match your theme's product page typography - **Accent color** - Controls the info icon and popup highlight color - **Popup background color** - Sets the background of the detail popup - **Popup text color** - Sets text inside the popup ## Impact Counter settings The Impact Counter has layout-specific options: - **Layout selection** - Choose Card Grid, Hero Image, or Compact Line - **Hero image presets** - When using Hero Image layout, select from preset background images (forest, ocean, mountain scenes) - **Heading and subtitle** - Custom text fields to personalize the section ## Cart Widget settings The Cart Widget has these additional options: - **Title and subtitle** - Custom heading text displayed above impact tiles - **Icon size** - Adjust the size of impact category icons within the widget - **Border color** - Set the color of the container border ## Footer Banner settings The Footer Banner offers: - **Text size and weight** - Control the font size and whether text appears in normal or bold weight - **Border toggle and color** - Add a border and set its color - **Link URL** - Where customers go when they click the banner ## Tips for consistent styling - Use the same primary color across all widgets for a unified look - Match background colors to your theme's card or section backgrounds - Keep branding toggled on if you want to build trust through transparency; toggle it off for a cleaner look - Test on both desktop and mobile after making changes Some widgets, like the Cart Widget and checkout extensions, do not fully render in the theme editor preview. Always verify your changes on your actual store URL with real products in the cart. --- # Checkout & Orders ## Checkout Widget (Shopify Plus) URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/checkout-widget Description: How the 1ClickImpact checkout widget works - requires Shopify Plus for checkout extensibility. The Checkout Widget appears in your Shopify checkout, showing customers the environmental impact associated with their purchase. Its behavior depends on your store's trigger mode. Checkout extensions are only available on **Shopify Plus** plans. Shopify's checkout page is locked on standard plans and cannot be customized with app widgets. **Alternatives for all Shopify plans:** - [Cart Impact Widget](/cart-widget) - shows impact in the cart before checkout - [Thank You Page](/thank-you) - shows impact confirmation after purchase - [Order Status Page](/order-status) - shows impact details on the order status page ## How it appears by trigger mode The checkout widget adapts its content based on how your store is configured to trigger impact: ### Customer choice mode The widget displays interactive toggle buttons for each impact category. Customers can select which categories they want to support. Their selections carry over from the cart widget if they already made a choice, or they can adjust at checkout. ### Per-order mode The widget shows a summary of the impact that will be generated by this order. For example: "This order plants 2 trees, removes 1 lb of ocean plastic, and captures 1 lb of carbon." ### Per-product mode The widget shows an impact summary calculated from the specific products in the cart. Each product may contribute different impact amounts. ### Monthly mode The widget displays a message informing the customer that the store contributes to environmental impact on a monthly basis. For example: "1 tree planted, 1 lb ocean waste removed & 1 lb carbon captured. Every month." ## Installation The Checkout Widget is a Shopify checkout UI extension and is enabled through the app: 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Checkout** 3. Under **Order summary**, look for the 1ClickImpact extension 4. Make sure it is enabled In most cases, the extension is activated automatically when you install the app. Shopify checkout extensions are only available on stores using Checkout Extensibility (Shopify Plus or stores on the new checkout). If you do not see the extension, confirm that your store supports checkout UI extensions. ## Customization options The checkout widget can be customized from within the 1ClickImpact app settings: - **Title** - The heading displayed above the impact section in checkout - **Subtitle** - A secondary line of text below the title - **Default impact selection** - For customer choice mode, set which categories are pre-selected by default - **Show branding** - Toggle the 1ClickImpact branding link on or off Checkout widget styling is constrained by Shopify's checkout branding settings. Colors and fonts follow your checkout's global theme rather than custom widget colors. You can adjust checkout branding under Settings, then Checkout in your Shopify admin. ## Customer choice behavior When using customer choice mode, the widget presents toggle buttons for each active impact category. If a customer made selections in the cart widget, those selections are preserved in checkout. If no prior selection exists, the default selection from your app settings is applied. Customers can change their selection at checkout. The final selection is what gets processed when the order is placed. --- ## Thank You Page Widget URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/thank-you Description: How the Thank You page widget shows impact details and certificates after an order is placed. The Thank You page widget appears after a customer completes their order, confirming the environmental impact their purchase generated. ## What it displays After an order is placed, the Thank You page widget shows: - **Total impact summary** - A breakdown of all impact categories triggered by the order, including any add-ons the customer selected - **Impact certificates** - Links to certificates for each impact category, which customers can view or share - **Customer selections** - In customer choice mode, the widget confirms which categories the customer chose to support ### Monthly mode For stores using the monthly trigger mode, the widget displays a message such as "This store contributes to environmental impact every month" instead of per-order details, since impact is processed on a monthly schedule rather than per order. ## How it works The Thank You page widget is a Shopify checkout UI extension that renders on the order confirmation page. It reads the impact configuration and any customer selections attached to the order to display the correct details. ## Installation The Thank You page widget is part of the same checkout extension as the [Checkout Widget](/checkout-widget). Once the checkout extension is enabled, the Thank You page widget activates automatically. 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Checkout** 3. Confirm that the 1ClickImpact extension is enabled under the Thank You page section The Thank You page widget shows the impact that was configured at the time the order was placed. If you change your impact settings after an order, previously placed orders still show their original impact details. ## Impact certificates Each impact category generates a certificate that verifies the contribution. The widget displays certificate links that customers can click to: - View the certificate in their browser - Share the certificate on social media - Download or save a record of their contribution Certificates are generated after the order is placed, which typically takes up to a minute. If the certificates are not ready yet, the widget displays a "Your impact certificate will be available soon" message. Once generated, the certificates appear automatically on the [Order Status page](/order-status) when the customer refreshes or revisits the page. The Thank You page loads immediately after checkout, so certificates may not be ready yet. The [Order Status page](/order-status) is the best place for customers to find their certificates and full impact summary, since it always reflects the latest processed data. ## Add-on impact If a customer added extra impact products to their cart (e.g., additional trees or ocean cleanup), those add-ons are included in the total displayed on the Thank You page. The widget combines base order impact and add-on impact into one unified summary. --- ## Order Status Page URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/order-status Description: How the Order Status page displays processed impact results and certificate links. The Order Status page widget shows the actual impact that was processed for an order, along with certificate links for each impact category. ## How it differs from the Thank You page The [Thank You page](/thank-you) shows impact details immediately after checkout, before everything is fully processed. The Order Status page shows the final, verified results - including accurate totals and certificate links. If a customer revisits their order, this is where they'll see the complete picture. ## What it displays The Order Status page widget shows: - **Impact summary** - The processed impact for each category (trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, money donated) - **Certificate links** - A link for each impact type that opens the verified certificate - **Processing status** - Confirmation that the impact has been successfully processed ## Timing Impact processing happens automatically after an order is placed. In most cases, results appear within a few seconds. If a customer navigates to the Order Status page immediately after placing their order, there may be a brief delay before the impact details populate. If the impact details are not showing on the Order Status page, wait a few seconds and refresh. Processing typically completes within 5-10 seconds of the order being placed. ## Installation The Order Status page widget is part of the checkout extension and activates automatically when the 1ClickImpact checkout extension is enabled. No additional setup is required. 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Checkout** 3. Confirm the 1ClickImpact extension is enabled ## Certificate links Each impact category in the order generates its own certificate. Customers can access these certificates from the Order Status page at any time by returning to their order confirmation link. Certificates include: - Verification of the impact contribution - Partner organization details - Date and quantity of the impact - A shareable link --- ## Customer Notifications URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/customer-notifications Description: How 1ClickImpact notifies customers about their environmental impact via automatic emails and shipping email snippets. 1ClickImpact offers two ways to let customers know about the environmental impact their order made - automatic impact emails and a shipping email snippet you can add to your existing Shopify notifications. ## 1. Automatic impact emails 1ClickImpact can automatically send customers a dedicated impact confirmation email after each order. These emails include impact details, certificate links, and tracking information - all branded and ready to go. You can enable or disable these emails, preview the templates, and request a free custom branded design from our team. For full details on setting up automatic impact emails, see the [Email Notifications](/email-notifications) page. Want custom branded impact emails that match your store's look and feel? Our design team will create them for you - free of charge. Just [contact us](/contact-support). ## 2. Shipping email snippet You can also add an impact summary directly into your Shopify shipping confirmation and shipping update emails. This shows customers the environmental impact of their order right in their inbox alongside their shipping details. ### What it displays The email snippet renders: - **Impact icons** - Visual icons for each impact category (trees, ocean, carbon, donations) - **Summary text** - A line describing the impact made by the order (e.g., "Your order planted 2 trees and removed 1 lb of ocean plastic") - **Certificate links** - Direct links to impact certificates for each category ### Where to add it The snippet goes into your Shopify notification email templates. The most common placements are: - **Shipping confirmation** - Sent when you fulfill an order - **Shipping update** - Sent when tracking information is updated To add the snippet: 1. Go to your **Shopify admin** 2. Navigate to **Settings** -> **Notifications** 3. Find **Shipping confirmation** (or **Shipping update**) and click on it 4. Click **Edit code** 5. Paste the Liquid snippet in the email body where you want the impact section to appear (typically below the order summary or above the footer) 6. Click **Save** The Liquid snippet is available in the 1ClickImpact app under **Profile & Settings** -> **Email Notifications** -> **Shipping Email Snippet** tab. Copy it from there to ensure you have the latest version. ### Preview limitations The email preview in Shopify's notification editor will not show the impact data. This is because the preview uses sample data that does not include 1ClickImpact order data. To see the snippet in action, you need to send a real shipping confirmation for an order that has been processed by 1ClickImpact. To test the snippet, place a test order on your store, let it process through 1ClickImpact, then fulfill it. The shipping confirmation email will include the rendered impact section. ### Data availability The snippet reads impact data that is written to the order after processing completes. If you fulfill an order immediately (within seconds of it being placed), the impact data may not appear in the email yet. In normal workflows, processing completes well before fulfillment. ### Customization The snippet includes inline CSS for styling. You can modify the colors, fonts, and spacing directly in the code to match your email branding. The structure uses standard HTML table layouts for maximum email client compatibility. --- # Dashboard ## Impact Dashboard URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/dashboard Description: How to use the Impact Dashboard to view your store total impact, daily charts, and individual records. The Impact Dashboard is the main screen in the 1ClickImpact app. It gives you a complete overview of your store's environmental contributions, daily trends, and individual impact records. ## Total impact overview At the top of the dashboard, you see your store's cumulative impact totals displayed with icons for each category: - **Trees planted** - Total trees planted (regular and food trees) - **Ocean waste removed** - Total pounds of plastic removed from oceans - **Carbon captured** - Total pounds of CO2 captured - **Money donated** - Total amount donated to causes These numbers update in real time as new orders are processed. ## Daily impact chart Below the totals, a bar chart shows your daily impact over the last 30 days. Each bar represents one day's total contributions across all categories. This helps you spot trends, see the effect of promotions or sales events, and track your store's impact trajectory. ## Records table The records table lists every individual impact event. Each row represents one processed impact and includes: - Order number - Date and time - Impact categories and quantities - Customer information (if applicable) ### Search and filtering You can search records by order number or customer name. Filters allow you to narrow results by: - Impact category - Date range ### Pagination Records are paginated for performance. Use the navigation controls at the bottom of the table to move between pages. ### Record details Click any record in the table to open a detail view showing: - Full tracking information for the impact - Certificate links - Partner details and location (with Google Maps embed) - Impact lifecycle timeline (Initiated -> Received -> Transferred -> Completed) - Live planting session links (for food trees) - Video recordings of the impact For more details on how tracking and certificates work, see [Tracking & Certificates](/tracking). The dashboard shows both test orders and real orders. If you placed test orders during setup, they will appear in the records table alongside production orders. ## Customer impact tab The dashboard includes a separate Customers tab that gives you a complete view of every customer who has generated environmental impact through your store. ### Customer list The customer table shows: - **Email address** - The customer's email from their Shopify order - **Total impact** - A summary of the trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, and donations made by or for that customer - **Onboarded on** - The date when the customer first made an impact The list is sorted by most recent activity by default, so your most active customers appear first. ### Viewing individual records Click on any customer row to open their detailed impact history. This view shows every impact record associated with that customer, including: - The date and order number for each impact event - The specific categories and amounts triggered (e.g., 2 trees, 1 lb of ocean waste) - Source of impact - whether it was merchant-funded using Make Impact or Monthly Impact, part of an order placed, or whether the impact was cancelled and credits were issued back ## Merchant vs. customer impact The dashboard tracks two types of impact: - **Merchant impact** - Impact that is not tied to a specific order or customer. This includes impact created from the Make Impact page and impacts from the [Fixed Monthly](/trigger-modes#fixed-monthly) trigger mode. - **Customer impact** - Impact tied to a customer purchase. This includes all impacts from per-order and per-product triggers, as well as [Customer Add-on Products](/addon-products) that customers add to their cart. Both types are displayed in the totals and clearly labeled in the records table. Customer add-on impacts count against your monthly budget. If the budget is exceeded, all impact processing (including add-ons) is paused until the budget is increased or resets. --- ## Tracking and Certificates URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/tracking Description: How impact tracking and certificates work, from initiation to completion with partner verification. Every impact contribution made through 1ClickImpact is tracked through a complete lifecycle and generates a verifiable certificate. This page explains how tracking works and what certificates contain. ## Tracking lifecycle Each impact goes through four stages: ### 1. Initiated The impact has been triggered by an order (or monthly schedule). The system has recorded the contribution and it is queued for processing. ### 2. Donation Received The financial contribution has been received and confirmed. Funds are allocated to the appropriate impact partner. ### 3. Transferred to Partner The contribution has been sent to the verified impact partner responsible for executing the action (planting the tree, removing the plastic, capturing the carbon, or distributing the donation). ### 4. Completed The impact action has been executed and verified by the partner. The certificate is finalized with completion details. Most impacts move through all four stages within a few days. Some categories, like food tree planting, may take longer depending on planting season and partner schedules. ## Certificates Every impact generates a certificate that serves as proof of contribution. Certificates include: - **Impact type and quantity** - What was done (e.g., 2 trees planted) - **Date** - When the impact was processed - **Partner organization** - The verified partner that executed the impact - **Unique certificate ID** - A unique identifier for verification - **Shareable link** - A URL that can be shared on social media or included in marketing Certificates are accessible from: - The [Thank You page](/thank-you) after checkout - The [Order Status page](/order-status) - The [Impact Dashboard](/dashboard) in the app - [Impact confirmation and order shipping emails](/customer-notifications) ## Track modal When you click on a tracking record in the dashboard, a detail modal opens with rich information: - **Google Maps location** - A map showing where the impact action took place (e.g., the reforestation site or ocean cleanup zone) - **Partner information** - Details about the organization that carried out the work - **Video content** - Videos from impact partners showing the work in action - **Timeline** - The full tracking lifecycle with dates for each stage ## Food tree live planting sessions Food tree impacts include a unique feature: live planting session links. When food trees are planted, the partner organization schedules live planting sessions that donors can watch. The certificate for food tree impacts includes a link to join or view the recorded planting session. Certificates remain accessible permanently. Customers can return to their order confirmation page at any time to view their certificates, and the shareable links do not expire. ## Using certificates in marketing Impact certificates can be a powerful marketing tool. Consider: - Sharing certificate links in post-purchase follow-up emails - Including certificate images in social media posts - Adding a link to your impact profile on your store's footer or about page - Featuring cumulative impact stats using the [Impact Counter](/impact-counter) widget --- # App Settings ## Public Impact Profile URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/public-profile Description: How to set up and customize your public impact profile on 1ClickImpact to showcase your environmental contributions. Your public impact profile is a shareable page that showcases your store's total environmental contributions. Share it with customers, partners, or on social media to highlight your commitment to sustainability. ## Enabling your profile To turn on your public profile: 1. Go to **Profile & Settings** in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Toggle **Public Profile** to on 3. Save your changes When disabled, your profile URL returns a 404 page and is not accessible to anyone. ## Auto-populated information When you first enable your profile, it pulls basic information from your Shopify store automatically - your store name and other available details. You can customize all of these fields afterward. ## Customizing your profile You can edit the following fields in the Profile & Settings page: - **Name** - The display name shown on your profile (defaults to your Shopify store name) - **Description** - A short bio or mission statement about your store's sustainability efforts - **Profile picture** - Upload a logo or image to represent your brand - **Website URL** - A link back to your store or any URL you want to feature - **Public Profile URL** - The unique URL path for your profile ## Your public URL Your profile is available at: ``` https://1clickimpact.com/profile/{your-url} ``` The Public Profile URL is editable, so you can set it to match your brand name. For example, if your URL is `greenstore`, your profile would be at `1clickimpact.com/profile/greenstore`. ## Language and units You can change the default language and measurement units (lbs vs kg) displayed on your public profile from the [Language & Units](/language-units) settings page. Your profile metrics update automatically as new impact is triggered. There is no need to manually refresh or republish your profile. --- ## Language and Measurement Units URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/language-units Description: How to change the dashboard language and measurement units in 1ClickImpact for your preferred locale. 1ClickImpact supports multiple languages and measurement systems so you can use the app in the way that feels most natural for your region. ## Changing the dashboard language You can switch the app language from the settings page. The following languages are supported: - English - Spanish - French - German - Dutch The language setting applies to the entire app dashboard, including navigation, labels, and descriptions. ## Changing measurement units You can choose between two measurement systems: - **Imperial** - Weight displayed in pounds (lbs) - **Metric** - Weight displayed in kilograms (kg) This affects how ocean waste and carbon capture amounts are shown throughout the app. ## Where the settings apply Your language and unit preferences are applied to: - **Customer impact emails** - Impact confirmation emails sent to your customers reflect your chosen language and units - **Public profile** - Your [public impact profile](/public-profile) displays in your selected language and units - **Storefront widgets (units only)** - Widgets on your store display impact values in your selected measurement units (lbs or kg) The language for storefront widgets is set automatically by your store's locale, not by this setting. If your store supports multiple languages, widgets will display in the customer's selected language. This setting controls the language for emails and your public profile. --- ## Email Notifications URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/email-notifications Description: How to enable impact confirmation emails for your customers and request custom branded email designs in 1ClickImpact. 1ClickImpact can automatically send impact confirmation emails to your customers after each order that triggers environmental impact. ## Enabling email notifications To turn on customer emails: 1. Go to the **Email Settings** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Toggle **Email Notifications** to on 3. Save your changes When enabled, every customer whose order triggers impact will receive a confirmation email with: - A summary of the impact their order generated (trees planted, ocean waste removed, etc.) - A link to their impact certificate - Tracking information for their environmental contribution When disabled, no emails are sent to customers. Impact is still triggered and recorded normally - customers simply won't receive a notification about it. ## Custom branded email design You can get a free custom-branded email design that matches your store's look and feel. The 1ClickImpact team will create a personalized email template featuring your logo, brand colors, and messaging. To request a custom email design, reach out to the team at **contact@1clickimpact.com** with your branding details. There is no additional cost for this service. Custom branded emails are designed and set up for you by the 1ClickImpact team at no charge. Just send over your logo and brand colors and they will handle the rest. --- # Billing ## How Billing Works URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/billing Description: How Shopify billing works with 1ClickImpact - usage-based charges, monthly caps, free tier, and viewing your usage. 1ClickImpact uses Shopify's built-in usage-based billing system. You're only charged for the impact you actually create, up to your monthly budget cap. ## Usage-based billing When you complete setup, Shopify creates a usage-based subscription for your store. This means: - **You're only charged for actual impact** - if no orders come in, you're not charged - **Charges appear on your Shopify invoice** - billing is handled entirely through Shopify, not a separate payment system - **Your budget is your cap** - you'll never be charged more than your monthly budget in a single billing cycle ## How charges are calculated When impact is triggered (by an order, product sale, or monthly schedule), the cost of each impact category is recorded as a usage charge: Plant Trees $0.40/tree Plant Food Trees $0.60/tree Clean Ocean Waste $0.60/lb (~$0.026/bottle) Capture Carbon $0.40/lb Donate to Causes $0.10 fee per $1 donated If you have multiple categories enabled, the total cost per trigger is the sum of all active categories. ## Billing order: what gets charged first When impact is triggered, charges are applied in this order: 1. **Free tier** - your free impact allocation is used first (100 trees + 10 lbs ocean waste / ~230 bottles) 2. **Credits** - any credits from order cancellations or full refunds are applied next 3. **Shopify billing** - once free tier and credits are exhausted, you only pay per additional impact if any is made You won't see any Shopify charges until your free tier and any credits are fully used up. ## Credits When an order is cancelled or fully refunded, 1ClickImpact automatically credits the impact cost back to your account. These credits are applied to future impact charges before any Shopify billing occurs. You can see your current credit balance on the **Home** page in the Monthly Budget card. ## Billing cycle and reset Your billing cycle follows your Shopify subscription cycle, typically 30 days from when you first approved the subscription. At the start of each new cycle: - Your usage counter resets to zero - Your full budget becomes available again - If your budget was exceeded, impact resumes automatically ## Viewing your usage You can see your current usage and billing details in several places: - **1ClickImpact Home page** - shows your current cycle usage and remaining budget - **Shopify admin** - go to **Settings** then **Billing** to see all app charges - **Shopify invoice** - detailed line items appear on your monthly Shopify invoice ## Cancellation If you uninstall 1ClickImpact, your Shopify subscription is cancelled automatically. You'll be billed for any usage that occurred during the current cycle up to the point of cancellation. No further charges will be made. --- ## Free Impact Tier URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/free-tier Description: Learn about the free impact tier in 1ClickImpact - 100 free trees and 230 plastic bottles removed for every new store. Every new store that installs 1ClickImpact gets a free allocation of environmental impact. This lets you try the app and start making a difference before any billing kicks in. ## What's included Every new store receives: - **100 free trees** planted through verified reforestation partners - **10 lbs of ocean waste removed** (approximately 230 plastic bottles) This free impact is available immediately after you complete the setup wizard. While the free tier covers trees and ocean waste, the Shopify billing subscription is still required during setup. Shopify needs an active subscription to track usage. You won't be charged until your free allocation is exhausted. ## How the free tier works As your store triggers impact, the free tier is consumed first: - Each tree planted uses one of your 100 free trees - Each pound of ocean waste removed uses your free ocean waste allocation - Other categories (food trees, carbon capture, donations) are billed normally from the start since they are not included in the free tier ## Tracking your free tier progress You can see how much of your free tier remains on the **Home** page of the 1ClickImpact app. The progress display shows: - How many free trees you've used out of 100 - How much free ocean waste removal you've used out of 10 lbs - An estimate of when your free tier will be exhausted based on your current order volume ## After the free tier Once your free trees and ocean waste allocation are fully used: - **Regular pricing applies** - trees cost $0.40 each, ocean waste costs $0.60/lb - **Charges appear on your Shopify bill** - usage is recorded against your monthly budget - **No interruption** - the transition is seamless, impact continues without any action from you If you also have credits (from promotions or bonuses), those are applied before Shopify billing charges begin. ## Frequently asked questions **Does the free tier expire?** No. Your free allocation remains available until it's used up, no matter how long that takes. **Can I get more free impact?** The free tier is a one-time allocation for new stores. After it's used, regular pricing applies. Check your email for occasional promotional credit offers. **Do customer add-on products use my free tier?** No. Customer add-on products are paid for by the customer and do not consume your free tier allocation. --- ## Budget Exceeded URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/budget-exceeded Description: What happens when your 1ClickImpact budget is exceeded and how to fix it - increase your budget or wait for the next billing cycle. When your monthly budget is fully used, 1ClickImpact stops triggering new impact until you increase your budget or your billing cycle resets. ## What happens When your budget is exceeded: - **New orders will not trigger impact** - your store continues to process orders normally, but no trees are planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, or donations made for those orders - **You receive an email notification** - we'll let you know that your budget has been reached so you can take action - **Customer add-on products will not show** - since impact cannot be triggered, add-on products are hidden from the cart widget - **Existing impact is not affected** - all impact that was already triggered continues to be tracked and fulfilled - **Storefront widgets are hidden** - all widgets except the [Impact Counter](/impact-counter) will stop showing until impact resumes. The Impact Counter continues to display your store's total impact. ## How to fix it You have two options: ### Option 1: Increase your budget 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Increase your monthly budget amount 3. Save your changes 4. Approve the updated billing subscription in Shopify Impact resumes immediately after the new subscription is approved. Increasing your budget requires re-approving the Shopify billing subscription. This is a Shopify requirement for any change to your billing cap. ### Option 2: Wait for the next billing cycle Your budget resets automatically at the start of your next Shopify billing cycle (typically every 30 days). When it resets: - Your usage counter goes back to zero - Your full budget becomes available again - Impact resumes automatically for new orders ## Preventing budget overages To avoid hitting your budget limit: - **Review your order volume** - check your average monthly orders and multiply by the cost of your active categories - **Start with a higher buffer** - set your budget 20-30% above your expected usage to account for busy months - **Monitor your usage** - check the Home page regularly to see how much budget you've used this cycle - **Adjust after the first month** - once you have real usage data, adjust your budget to match your actual needs ## Frequently asked questions **Do I lose the impact from orders that were skipped?** Yes. Orders that occur while your budget is exceeded do not trigger impact. Impact is not retroactively created when your budget resets or increases. **Will I be charged more than my budget?** No. Your budget is a hard cap enforced by Shopify. You will never be charged more than your set budget in a single billing cycle. **Can I set up alerts before my budget runs out?** Currently, you receive a notification when your budget is fully used. Check the Home page to monitor your usage throughout the cycle. --- # Advanced ## Display Impact with Metafields URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/metafields Description: How to use Shopify metafields to display your 1ClickImpact environmental stats anywhere on your store. 1ClickImpact automatically stores your cumulative impact stats in Shopify shop metafields. These update after every order and can be used to display your impact anywhere on your storefront. ## Available metafields The following shop metafields are maintained by 1ClickImpact: - **oneclickimpact.total_trees** - Total trees planted (integer) - **oneclickimpact.total_ocean_lbs** - Total ocean waste removed in pounds (integer) - **oneclickimpact.total_carbon_lbs** - Total carbon captured in pounds (integer) - **oneclickimpact.total_donated_usd** - Total amount donated in USD (decimal) These values update automatically whenever new impact is triggered. No manual action is needed to keep them current. ## Using metafields in your theme Use Liquid code in your theme files to display impact stats wherever you want. In the theme editor, add a **Custom Liquid** section and paste the code below. ### Basic usage ```liquid trees planted lbs of ocean waste removed lbs of carbon captured $ donated to causes ``` ### Conditional display Only show a metric if it has a value: ```liquid {% if shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_trees > 0 %} We've planted trees so far! {% endif %} ``` ### Styled HTML block A complete styled section you can drop into any template: ```liquid Our Environmental Impact {% if shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_trees > 0 %} Trees Planted {% endif %} {% if shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_ocean_lbs > 0 %} lbs Ocean Waste Removed {% endif %} {% if shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_carbon_lbs > 0 %} lbs Carbon Captured {% endif %} {% if shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_donated_usd > 0 %} $ Donated to Causes {% endif %} ``` ## Where you can use metafields These metafields work in any context where Shopify Liquid is available: - Homepage sections - Product pages - Notification emails (order confirmation, shipping, etc.) - Packing slips - Custom theme sections and templates 1ClickImpact also provides built-in widgets like the [Impact Counter](/impact-counter) and [Footer Banner](/footer-banner) that display your impact stats automatically without any code. Metafields are for stores that want full design control. Some Shopify themes also support connecting these metafields via the **dynamic source picker** in the theme editor (look under **Shop** when editing a text field). Support varies by theme and block type. --- ## Impact in Emails & Theme URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/impact-in-emails Description: How to show environmental impact data in your Shopify emails and theme using metafields and notification settings. There are multiple ways to share your environmental impact with customers - from automatic emails to displaying live stats anywhere on your store. ## Customer notifications 1ClickImpact offers two built-in ways to notify customers about the impact their order made: 1. **Automatic impact emails** - Dedicated emails sent after each order with impact details, certificates, and tracking info 2. **Shipping email snippet** - A Liquid code snippet you paste into your Shopify shipping confirmation template For full details on both options, see the [Customer Notifications](/customer-notifications) page. ## Displaying impact stats using metafields 1ClickImpact automatically stores your store's total impact data in Shopify shop metafields. These update after every order and are available anywhere in your theme - no coding required. ### Available metafields | Metric | Metafield Key | Type | | --- | --- | --- | | Trees Planted | `oneclickimpact.total_trees` | Integer | | Ocean Waste Removed | `oneclickimpact.total_ocean_lbs` | Integer | | Carbon Captured | `oneclickimpact.total_carbon_lbs` | Integer | | Total Donated | `oneclickimpact.total_donated_usd` | Decimal | ### No-code: Theme editor dynamic sources You can connect these metafields to any text block in your theme without writing code: 1. Go to **Online Store** -> **Themes** -> **Customize** 2. Add or select any text block 3. Click the **Connect dynamic source** icon next to the text field 4. Search for "Trees Planted", "Ocean Waste", "Carbon Captured", or "Total Donated" 5. Select the metafield and click **Save** This works on any page - homepage, product pages, collection pages, about page, footer, blog posts, and more. ### Liquid code for notification emails For Shopify notification email templates (order confirmation, shipping, etc.) or custom Liquid sections, you can use code like: ```liquid {% assign trees = shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_trees.value %} {% assign ocean = shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_ocean_lbs.value %} {% assign carbon = shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_carbon_lbs.value %} {% assign donated = shop.metafields.oneclickimpact.total_donated_usd.value %} {% if trees and trees > 0 %} trees planted {% endif %} {% if ocean and ocean > 0 %} lbs of ocean waste removed {% endif %} {% if carbon and carbon > 0 %} lbs of carbon captured {% endif %} {% if donated and donated > 0 %} $ donated to causes {% endif %} ``` These metafields show your store's **total** cumulative impact, not per-order data. For per-order impact in emails, use the [shipping email snippet](/customer-notifications#2-shipping-email-snippet) instead. For more details and a styled HTML snippet, see the full [Display Impact with Metafields](/metafields) guide. --- # Integrations & Tools ## Climate Badge URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/climate-badge Description: How to add a verified 1ClickImpact climate badge to your website to showcase your environmental commitment. The 1ClickImpact climate badge is an embeddable widget that displays your verified environmental commitment on any page of your website. ## What is the climate badge The climate badge is a small, visually appealing badge that shows visitors your store is actively making environmental impact. It updates automatically as your impact grows, reflecting your latest totals for trees planted, ocean waste removed, and carbon captured. ## Getting your badge Visit [1clickimpact.com/integrations/badge](https://1clickimpact.com/integrations/badge) to generate your badge embed code. Copy the code snippet and paste it into your website wherever you want the badge to appear. The climate badge requires a 1ClickImpact subscription on [1clickimpact.com](https://1clickimpact.com), which is separate from your Shopify app subscription. You can pick the **free plan** to get started - no payment required. The subscription is needed to process the impact when the badge's view threshold is reached. ## Where to place the badge The badge works well in several locations: - **Product pages** - Show customers that their purchase contributes to environmental impact - **Footer** - Display the badge site-wide as a consistent trust signal - **About page** - Complement your sustainability story with verified numbers - **Checkout** - Reinforce your commitment at the point of purchase ## Automatic updates The badge pulls your latest impact data each time a visitor loads the page. As you plant more trees, remove more ocean waste, and capture more carbon, the badge numbers update automatically. There is no need to regenerate or update the embed code. The climate badge works on any website, not just Shopify stores. You can add it to your blog, landing pages, or any other site where you can paste HTML. --- ## Zapier Integration URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/zapier Description: How to connect 1ClickImpact with Zapier to trigger environmental impact from any app or workflow. Everything you need to know about 1ClickImpact - from setup to billing to tracking your environmental impact. ## Getting Started **How does 1ClickImpact work?** 1ClickImpact connects to your Shopify store and automatically triggers environmental impact with every order. You choose what impact to make (plant trees, remove ocean plastic, capture carbon, plant food trees, or donate to causes), set your monthly budget, and we handle the rest. Customers see their impact at checkout and receive email certificates with live tracking. **Is it really free to start?** Yes. Every new store gets 100 free trees and 230 plastic bottles removed (10 lbs of ocean waste) at no cost. No credit card is required for the free tier - though Shopify does require an active billing subscription to track usage. You won't be charged until your free allocation is exhausted. **How long does setup take?** About 2 minutes. The setup wizard walks you through choosing your impact categories, setting your budget, and enabling widgets. No code required. **Do I need a Shopify Plus plan?** No. 1ClickImpact works with all Shopify plans. The checkout extension works on any plan that supports checkout extensibility. --- ## Pricing & Billing **How much does it cost?** There are no monthly fees. You only pay for the impact you make: - Plant a tree: $0.40 - Plant a food tree: $0.60 - Remove ocean waste: $0.60/lb - Capture carbon: $0.40/lb - Donate to a cause: $0.10 processing fee per $1 donated **How does billing work?** All charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice. You set a monthly budget cap (minimum $5/month) and you'll never be charged more than that amount. Usage is tracked automatically. **What happens when I hit my budget?** Impact stops triggering for the rest of the billing cycle. You'll receive an email notification (unless disabled). Your budget resets automatically each billing cycle, or you can update it anytime from Setup. **Are customer add-on products charged to me?** Customers pay for the add-on products at checkout (e.g., $0.80 for 2 trees). The impact cost is then billed to you through Shopify and deducted from your monthly budget. Since the customer already paid the same amount, it's a net-zero cost to you. **What if I cancel an order?** Impact is automatically cancelled and the cost is added as credits to your account. Credits are applied to future billing charges before Shopify is charged. --- ## Impact & Tracking **Is the impact real and verified?** Yes. All impact is delivered through verified global non-profit partners. Every tree planted, every pound of ocean waste removed, and every pound of carbon captured comes with a trackable certificate. You can see exactly where your impact happens. Browse all supported projects at [1clickimpact.com/climate-projects](https://1clickimpact.com/climate-projects). **What are live planting sessions?** Food tree impacts include live planting sessions where you can watch trees being planted in real time. Living session details and Google Meet links are present in the tracking details. **Do customers get notified?** Yes. Customers automatically receive branded email notifications with their impact details, downloadable certificates, and live tracking links. You can also add impact info to your Shopify shipping confirmation emails. **Can I see my total impact?** Yes. The dashboard shows your total trees planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, and donations made. You can view daily trends, individual customer records, and certificate history. **What is the public impact profile?** A dedicated page at 1clickimpact.com/profile/your-store that showcases your store's total environmental impact. You can share it with customers, on social media, or link to it from your website. It updates automatically. --- ## Widgets & Customization **What widgets are available?** 1ClickImpact includes widgets for your cart, product pages, checkout, thank-you page, order status page, footer, and more. All widgets are drag-and-drop from the Shopify theme editor - no code needed. **Can I customize the widget appearance?** Yes. Every widget supports custom colors, text, icons, positioning, font sizes, and border styles. You can match them to your brand directly from the theme editor. **What languages are supported?** Widgets, checkout extension, and impact emails are available in English, Spanish, French, German, and Dutch. Measurement units can be set to imperial (lbs) or metric (kgs). **Can customers choose their own impact?** Yes. You can create add-on products that customers add to their cart - extra trees, ocean cleanup, carbon capture, or donations. These appear as line items and can be auto-fulfilled as digital products. --- ## Integrations **Does it work with Zapier?** Yes. Connect 1ClickImpact with 5,000+ apps through Zapier to trigger impact from form submissions, CRM events, and more. **Is there an API?** Yes. Full REST API documentation is available at [docs.1clickimpact.com](https://docs.1clickimpact.com). You can create impact, track certificates, and integrate with custom workflows. **What is the climate badge?** A verified sustainability badge you can embed anywhere on your website - product pages, footer, about page, or checkout. While paused, no impact is triggered and no charges are made, including customer add-on products. --- ## Troubleshooting: Widget Not Showing URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/widget-not-showing Description: Troubleshooting steps for when the 1ClickImpact widget is not appearing on your Shopify storefront. If the 1ClickImpact widget is not appearing on your storefront, work through the following common causes and fixes. ## 1. Widget not enabled in theme editor The widget block may not be added to the page template where you expect it. **How to fix:** 1. Go to **Online Store** then **Customize** in your Shopify admin 2. Navigate to the page where you want the widget (e.g., product page, cart page) 3. Look for the 1ClickImpact widget block in the page sections 4. If it is not there, click **Add block** or **Add section** and search for 1ClickImpact 5. Save the theme ## 2. App embed not turned on (cart widget) The cart widget is an app embed that must be activated separately from page blocks. **How to fix:** 1. In the theme editor, open the **App embeds** panel (toggle icon in the left sidebar) 2. Find **1ClickImpact Cart Widget** 3. Toggle it on 4. Save the theme ## 3. No impact categories enabled If no impact categories are enabled in your setup, the widget has nothing to display and will not render. **How to fix:** 1. Open the 1ClickImpact app in your Shopify admin 2. Go to **Setup** 3. Make sure at least one impact category (Trees, Ocean, Carbon, or Donate) is enabled 4. Save your changes ## 4. Metafield not set In some cases, the shop metafields that the widget reads from may not be initialized. This can happen if the app was reinstalled or if setup was not fully completed. **How to fix:** 1. Open the 1ClickImpact app 2. Go to **Setup** and re-save your configuration 3. Wait a few seconds, then reload your storefront If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This will reinitialize the metafields. ## Cart widget: manual placeholder If your theme's cart page uses a non-standard structure, the cart widget may not auto-detect where to render. In that case, add a placeholder element to your cart template: ```html ``` Place this div wherever you want the widget to appear in your cart template file (typically `cart.liquid`, `cart-template.liquid`, or a cart section file). The cart widget does not render in the Shopify theme editor preview. To verify it is working, visit your actual store URL with items in your cart. --- ## Troubleshooting: Impact Not Triggering URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/impact-not-triggering Description: Troubleshooting steps for when 1ClickImpact is not triggering environmental impact on new orders. If orders are going through but no impact is being recorded, check these common causes in order. ## 1. Trigger mode set to Pause If your trigger mode is set to **Pause**, no impact will be triggered on any order. **How to fix:** 1. Open the 1ClickImpact app 2. Go to **Setup** 3. Check your trigger mode - if it says Pause, switch it to your desired mode (Per Order, Per Product, Customer Choice, or Fixed Monthly) 4. Save your changes ## 2. Budget exceeded When your monthly budget has been fully used, no new merchant-funded impact is triggered until the billing cycle resets. **How to fix:** 1. Check the **Home** page in the app to see your current budget usage 2. If the budget is maxed out, go to **Setup** and increase your budget 3. Approve the updated subscription in Shopify All impact processing (including customer add-on products) stops when the budget is exceeded. Increase your budget or wait for the next billing cycle to resume. ## 3. Order below minimum order value If you have set a minimum order value in your trigger settings, orders below that threshold will not trigger impact. **How to fix:** 1. Go to **Setup** and check if a minimum order value is configured 2. Lower the threshold or remove it if you want all orders to trigger impact ## 4. App connection issue In rare cases, the connection between 1ClickImpact and your Shopify store may need to be refreshed. This can happen after a Shopify update or if the app was recently reinstalled. **How to fix:** 1. Open the 1ClickImpact app in your Shopify admin 2. If prompted, re-approve any permissions 3. Try placing a test order to confirm impact is working If the issue persists, [contact our support team](/contact-support) and we'll resolve it for you. ## 5. Free tier exhausted without billing subscription If your free tier impact (100 trees and 10 lbs of ocean waste) has been used up and you have not approved a billing subscription, no further impact will be triggered. **How to fix:** 1. Go to **Setup** in the app 2. Set a monthly budget and save 3. Approve the Shopify billing subscription when prompted Once the subscription is active, impact will resume on new orders. --- ## Troubleshooting: Billing Issues URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/billing-issues Description: Troubleshooting common billing issues in 1ClickImpact, including budget exceeded errors and billing cycle behavior. This page covers common billing-related issues and how to resolve them. ## "Total price exceeds balance remaining" This is the most common billing error. It means your monthly budget has been fully used and there is no remaining balance to charge for new impact. **How to fix:** 1. Go to the **Setup** page in the 1ClickImpact app 2. Increase your monthly budget to a higher amount 3. Save and approve the updated subscription in Shopify Once the new budget is approved, impact will resume on new orders. Alternatively, you can wait for your billing cycle to reset automatically (typically every 30 days). ## Billing only applies to non-free-tier impact Your free tier includes 100 trees and 10 lbs of ocean waste at no cost. Billing only begins after those free allocations are exhausted. If you are still within the free tier, no charges are applied to your Shopify account. You can check your free tier usage on the **Home** page in the app. ## Credits from cancelled orders When an order is cancelled or refunded, the impact cost associated with that order is credited back to your budget. These credits are applied automatically and reduce your usage for the current billing cycle. There is no action needed on your part. If you are seeing unexpected charges or billing behavior, check your budget and billing cycle dates on the Setup page. Most billing issues are resolved by adjusting the budget amount. --- ## Contact Support URL: https://help.1clickimpact.com/contact-support Description: How to reach 1ClickImpact support for help with setup, troubleshooting, custom requests, and more.
