Budget Exceeded
When your monthly budget is fully used, 1ClickImpact stops triggering new impact until you increase your budget or your billing cycle resets.
What happens
When your budget is exceeded:
- New orders will not trigger impact — your store continues to process orders normally, but no trees are planted, ocean waste removed, carbon captured, or donations made for those orders
- You receive an email notification — we'll let you know that your budget has been reached so you can take action
- Customer add-on products will not show — since impact cannot be triggered, add-on products are hidden from the cart widget
- Existing impact is not affected — all impact that was already triggered continues to be tracked and fulfilled
- Storefront widgets are hidden — all widgets except the Impact Counter will stop showing until impact resumes. The Impact Counter continues to display your store's total impact.
How to fix it
You have two options:
Option 1: Increase your budget
- Go to the Setup page in the 1ClickImpact app
- Increase your monthly budget amount
- Save your changes
- Approve the updated billing subscription in Shopify
Impact resumes immediately after the new subscription is approved.
Increasing your budget requires re-approving the Shopify billing subscription. This is a Shopify requirement for any change to your billing cap.
Option 2: Wait for the next billing cycle
Your budget resets automatically at the start of your next Shopify billing cycle (typically every 30 days). When it resets:
- Your usage counter goes back to zero
- Your full budget becomes available again
- Impact resumes automatically for new orders
Preventing budget overages
To avoid hitting your budget limit:
- Review your order volume — check your average monthly orders and multiply by the cost of your active categories
- Start with a higher buffer — set your budget 20-30% above your expected usage to account for busy months
- Monitor your usage — check the Home page regularly to see how much budget you've used this cycle
- Adjust after the first month — once you have real usage data, adjust your budget to match your actual needs
Frequently asked questions
Do I lose the impact from orders that were skipped? Yes. Orders that occur while your budget is exceeded do not trigger impact. Impact is not retroactively created when your budget resets or increases.
Will I be charged more than my budget? No. Your budget is a hard cap enforced by Shopify. You will never be charged more than your set budget in a single billing cycle.
Can I set up alerts before my budget runs out? Currently, you receive a notification when your budget is fully used. Check the Home page to monitor your usage throughout the cycle.
