Trigger Modes
Trigger modes control when 1ClickImpact creates environmental impact. Choose the mode that best fits your business model and budget. You can switch between modes at any time.
Per Order
Impact is triggered once for every order placed in your store.
- Each order creates your desired units of impact in your selected categories
- Optionally set a minimum order value — orders below the threshold won't trigger impact
- This is the most common mode and works well for most stores
Best for: Stores that want consistent impact with every sale.
Per Product
Impact is triggered for each product sold, multiplied by the quantity purchased.
- If a customer buys 3 units of a product, impact is multiplied by 3
- This scales impact proportionally with order size
- Higher-volume orders create more impact (and more cost)
Best for: Stores where order size varies significantly, or where you want impact to scale with what customers buy.
Per Product mode can use your budget faster than Per Order mode since a single order with multiple items triggers multiple impacts. Make sure your budget accounts for your average items-per-order.
Customer Choice
Customers choose whether to add impact at checkout. A widget appears in the checkout flow letting them opt in.
- Impact is only triggered when a customer actively chooses it
- The cost comes from your budget, not the customer (unless combined with Customer Add-on Products that the customer pays for)
- Great for stores that want to involve customers in the decision
Best for: Stores that want customers to feel directly involved in making a positive impact.
Fixed Monthly
Impact is triggered once per month as a single batch, regardless of how many orders you receive.
- Runs automatically on a monthly schedule
- Creates your configured units of impact in your selected categories
- Predictable, fixed cost each month
- Not tied to individual orders
Best for: Stores with low or variable order volume, or those that want a simple, predictable monthly contribution.
Pause
All impact triggering is stopped.
- No new impact is created for any orders
- Customer add-on products are also paused
- Impact widgets are hidden from your storefront
- Existing impact is not affected
To resume, simply select any other trigger mode from the Setup page.
Best for: When you need a temporary break — seasonal closures, store maintenance, or budget planning.
Switching modes
You can change your trigger mode at any time:
- Go to the Setup page in the 1ClickImpact app
- Select a new trigger mode
- Save your changes
The new mode takes effect immediately. Any impact already created under the previous mode is preserved.
